Mason Jar Cupcakes: A Delectable Treat Anytime of Year!

Mason Jar Cupcakes Recipe - Delectable Destinations Culinary ToursHappy Holidays from Delectable Destinations. As 2012 comes to a close, I wanted to share one last recipe with you all from my good friend Jodie.  While this is the perfect holiday dessert, it can also be a delightful treat any time of year and makes the perfect gift for your favorite person. Jodie’s kitchen visited us this holiday season and shared with us her secret behind Mason Jar Cupcakes, which essentially is chocolate cake, banana & peanut butter icing.  This recipe remains in my top 10 in terms of taste and presentation.  I hope you enjoy!

To start, you will want to wash 12 mason jars and dry well. You can find mason jars at any craft store.  After these are washed and dried, set them aside. To assemble the jars, bake cake in cupcake cups as directed, and prepare both icings. When the cupcakes are completely cool, simply layer them in the jars:
  • First Layer: Cupcake (trim cupcake if necessary)
  • Second Layer: Peanut butter icing
  • Third Layer:  Bottom half of cupcake
  • Fourth Layer:  Banana icing
  • Fifth Layer:  Top with mini Recess Peanut Butter Cup.
