My love for Italy began 14 years ago and with it, my love for the food, culture and people of this beautiful country. This passion for Italy is the main reason I began my journey of organizing culinary experiences and during these trips, I “developed” a new excitement for photography. This naturally led me to begin the process of organizing a Food/Photography trip. Teaming up with Catrine and Kristin is the final ingredient in making this project a reality, in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy.
i
Together, we invite you to join us this Fall for our Food Styling & Photography Workshop & Culinary Experience in the beautiful Chianti Region of Tuscany.

WHEN?
l
October 26 – November 2, 2014. We are offering a 7 night/6 day Food Styling & Photography workshop in the charming town of Impruneta, just outside of Florence. Our accommodations will be at the beautiful Estate of
Villa La Quercia, a 17th century stone cottage, surrounded by olive orchards and vineyards.
l
This experience includes cooking classes and workshops as well as visits to some of the most magnificent, charming & historical towns of Tuscany. Florence, Radda, Pienza, and Montepulciano to name a few. Visits to private vineyards for wine & olive oil tastings, an organic percorino farm, an artisanal goat cheese farm, chef guided market day in Florence and a beautiful day trip to the region known as Crete Senesi, a spectacular area of Tuscany that includes some of the most picturesque scenery. Dining at local trattorias and private villas throughout the week.
THE WORKSHOP:
Together, Catrine and Kristin will show you how they collaborate to tell stories through food photography and styling. Students will learn how to see food at its best through understanding/modifying natural light, composition, styling and props.
l
This workshop is for anyone with a love of photography who is looking to improve their technical skills and deepen their artistic vision. Bringing a DSLR or point-and-shoot camera with manual controls is highly recommended. For anyone that is more interested in focusing on the food styling component or those with a basic point-and-shoot and/or camera phone are welcome to join us. The topics we will be covering will give you the tools to create better images for yourself and also challenge you to experiment and be creative! Please email us if you have any questions about equipment you have or are looking to buy or rent for the workshop.
l
Highlights of the workshop include understanding the fundamentals (ISO, shutter speed, aperture), understanding tools (tripods, reflectors, diffusers, lens selection), shooting on location, and how to compile a group of images to effectively tell a story. When we are not focusing on food photography and styling, we will be exploring landscape and portrait photography in the countryside and city, and at the market and farm.
In addition to technical instruction, Catrine and Kristin will talk about the creative process, finding your voice, and various resources for taking images off the screen and into the form of prints and books.
With the small class size, there will be opportunity for personal instruction as needed.
