Our Must-Have Travel Items

Packing well isn’t about bringing more, but about choosing the right things. The pieces that make travel feel easy, comfortable, and considered. Over time, the team at Delectable Destinations has refined our lists down to the items we truly rely on. The ones that come with us on every trip, no matter the destination.

These are our must-have travel items. The essentials we reach for again and again, whether we’re exploring cities, spending time by the coast or settling into a slower pace. From practical problem-solvers to small comforts, here’s what the Delectable Destinations team always packs.

Carol’s Must-Have Travel Items

Carol is all about comfort and those small details that make a long travel day feel a little easier.

  • Eye Heat Compress Mask – Excellent for relieving puffiness and promoting relaxation. It’s especially nice to use on the plane or after a full day of activities.
  • Facial Wipes – I love these for a quick refresh on a hot day.
  • Antibacterial Wipes – I use these everywhere, from planes to hotel rooms and everything in between.
  • Rinse-Free Hand Wash – I never leave home without it when I’m traveling. You can wash your hands anywhere with this, and it’s made from natural ingredients. It smells great, too!
  • Small Portable Fan – Another must-have when I travel. On those warm nights, it keeps the air circulating and provides pleasant white noise to help block out outside sounds.
  • Packable Hooded Rain Poncho – An excellent rain jacket/poncho that’s easy to pack and take anywhere.
  • Hydration – This is so important when traveling! One pouch contains 12 single-serve stick packs. I use one on the plane, another when I arrive at my destination, and a few more throughout the week.
  • Cleansing Cloths – Washcloths are rarely provided in European hotels and villas, outside of international hotel chains. These natural cotton facial cleansing cloths are the best! Another staple I add to my packing list.
  • Two more items I never leave home without: a portable travel charger for my cell phone, and scarves. If you’ve ever traveled with me, you know I’m a scarf lover! I pack quite a few (maybe even more than a few) and always seem to buy a few more along the way.
  • A tip for wrinkled clothing – I pack a small empty spray bottle. The night before, I give a good mist to any clothes I plan to wear the next day, and voilà – wrinkles are gone! No ironing needed.

Shannon’s Must-Have Travel Items

Shannon’s packing list is a mix of practical essentials and a few things that just make travel more enjoyable.

  • Kobo – I’m an avid reader and was team paper books until it just got too out of hand and inconvenient for travelling. I was gifted a Kobo and could not imagine my life without it. You’ll never catch me travelling without my Kobo!
  • Noise-Cancelling Earphones – These have completely changed my travelling experience. They’re tiny, have a really long battery life, and do so well at cancelling out noise in pretty much any situation.
  • Solid Shampoo and Conditioner Bars – These are a great no-mess option, ideal for those travelling carry-on only, and lather up super well and leave your hair smelling divine.
  • Bathing Suit – One of my mom’s packing rules has really stuck with me – always carry a bathing suit with you (in your hand luggage) as you never know when you’ll get the chance to swim!
  • Playing Cards – I always keep a deck of cards on me to play in the in-between moments of travel. It’s also really fun to learn new card games from around the world.
  • Flip Flops – Flip flops are always a must for me, and these square-toed Havaianas are so chic!

All of these must-have travel items have one thing in common: they make travel easier. Each one serves a purpose and has proven its value over time. Packing well is not about having more options. It’s about choosing items that work across different situations and help you feel comfortable and prepared. The right pieces allow you to move through your trip with less effort and more ease.

At Delectable Destinations, we think travel should feel effortless. The right essentials help you focus less on logistics and more on the experience itself. These must-have travel items are the ones we come back to every time. They have been tested on different trips, in different places, and they continue to earn their spot in our bags. As you plan your next trip, think about what you actually use and what makes your experience better. A few well-chosen items can go a long way!
